Why Platform Screen Doors?
Greater safety for passengers
Whether at a metro station, an airport shuttle or an underground station, platform screen doors create a physical barrier between passengers waiting on the platform and the track area. This reduces the risk of falls, objects on the tracks and dangerous situations during periods of heavy passenger traffic. International transport projects also cite safety, controlled access and protection from the track area as key benefits of PSD systems.

Noise reduction
PSD solutions reduce noise and provide passengers with a quieter waiting environment. This noticeably improves the quality of the experience, particularly at busy urban stations.

Minimal air pollution
Full-height platform screen doors completely separate the platform area from the tunnel. This prevents unpleasant odours, particles or dirt from the tunnels reaching passengers.

Climate control
Another advantage of full-height enclosures is that they block air flows. Hot air currents or descending cold air currents have a huge impact on the climate. Save energy by separating the tunnel and the platform.
PSD Products Overview
Platform Screen Doors (PSD) provide the best possible separation between the track and the platform. They are installed as close as possible to the edge of the platform to ensure good accessibility for passengers.

Platform Screen Door PSD-F
Full Height PSD
Full-height PSDs are attached to the civil structure at the top and bottom. The platform area, from the floor to the platform ceiling, is completely sealed, and the area above the technical head of the PSD allows for architectural expression.
Airstream
Improving passenger comfort by minimising the airflow caused by the train’s movement.
Purity
Improving the cleanliness of the platform by preventing dust from the tracks from reaching the platform side.
Sealed
The airtight seal between the track and the platform plays an active role in regulating the climate on the platform and in saving energy in hot and cold conditions.
Smoke Control
Enhanced safety by preventing the risk of people falling onto the tracks. Full-height PSDs also improve smoke management in the event of a fire on board or on the platform.
Automtatic Platform Gates PSD-H
Half Height PSD
Automatic Platform Gates (also known as half-height platform doors) separate the track from the platform, whilst giving passengers the impression that the platform is open and spacious. The APG facades are installed as close as possible to the platform edge to ensure good accessibility for passengers. They offer added benefits:
Retrofrit
As APGs are lighter than freestanding PSDs, they are easier to install in retrofit projects. Such projects are carried out in old railway stations where building regulations already limit solutions.
Openair
APG solutions are often used at outdoor stations where there is no station building above ground and where the architectural intention is to open up the station to its surroundings.
Informations Screens
Support for passenger information, e.g. through signage or dynamic traffic information (screens and loudspeakers).
Passenger Safety
Improving passenger flow on the platform by marking train entrances and enabling the operator to increase train services.
Platform Screen Doors Standalone
Standalone PSD
Standalone Platform Screen Doors are automated door systems installed along the platform edge that synchronize with train arrivals and departures without requiring deep integration into the railway signaling system. Instead of relying on centralized train control systems such as CBTC or traditional interlocking equipment, standalone PSD systems use local intelligence and dedicated sensors to detect train position, verify safe operating conditions, and control door operation independently.
Fast Installation
Modular construction enables rapid installation with minimal disruption to railway operations.
Availability
Modern standalone PSD systems are engineered for availability levels exceeding 99.9% through
Interfaces
Standalone PSD systems support a wide range of industrial communication protocols.
Advanced Sensors
Standalone PSD systems rely on advanced sensor technologies instead of centralized railway signaling.
